The start of a new year often brings with it the promise of exciting restaurant openings, and as new restaurants go, 2018 is set to be a vintage year. Guests at The Milestone Hotel are within easy reach of the hottest new tables, from a fashionable new Thai restaurant in Fitzrovia to elegant Chinese all day dining in the City.  Prepare to check out the city’s latest gourmet spots, here’s where to make reservations in 2018.

The Greyhound Cafe

A hip and highly successful restaurant in Bangkok, The Greyhound Café is making its first foray into Europe with a two-storey venue in London’s Fitzrovia. Expect a chic and unconventional Thai restaurant, where diners can feast on plates such as Pork Knuckle Tod Krob simmered with Thai herbs, and ‘Angry Pasta,’ a heady mix of wok fried, mixed seafood pasta with plenty of Thai chilli and holy basil.

Bob Bob Cité

Beloved Soho restaurant, Bob Bob Ricard, is opening a sister eatery in the city’s iconic Leadenhall building. The new outpost is a chance to sample the restaurant’s English and Russian influenced menu as well as its famous ‘Press for Champagne’ buttons, which are fitted to every table. Acclaimed chef Eric Chavot, formerly of Brasserie Chavot, will take on the role of Executive Head Chef.

Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden

Petersham Nurseries has already opened the first stage of its Covent Garden space, Floral Court, which includes a very tempting home and garden shop, a deli and a florist. However, 2018 sees the launch of an additional two restaurants at Floral Court: The Petersham and La Coccia. The flagship restaurant, The Petersham, will be helmed by chef Simon Whiteley and will be a celebration of slow food. Italian inspired La Goccia will be more informal, with an all day bistro equipped with open grill, wood fired oven and excellent cocktails.

Andrew Wong Bloomberg restaurant

Having just been awarded a Michelin star for A Wong, his debut restaurant in Victoria, Andrew Wong is set to open a new all day dining venue in Bloomberg Arcade. The restaurant will bring Wong’s imaginative take on classic Chinese cooking to the heart of London’s financial district, in a smart casual setting.

Ramuel Scully came to the attention of London’s restaurant scene as Head Chef of Nopi, and now the chef has branched out on his own with his first solo restaurant, Scully. Located in the new St James’s Market development, diners will be treated to Scully’s signature big, colourful flavours and inspired ingredient combinations. There’ll also be plenty of homemade spices, syrups, pickles and preserves to ensure that every plate is a sensory delight.

SUSHISAMBA Covent Garden

After enjoying runaway success at its first location in the Heron Tower, SUSHISAMBA is opening its second restaurant at another of London’s landmarks, Covent Garden Market. The fusion restaurant, which offers a winning combination of Japanese, Peruvian and Brazilian food, is set to take over the Opera Terrace at Covent Garden and sure to be one of 2018’s most anticipated launches.

By Chloe

Bringing a taste of New York’s best vegan cuisine to London, By Chloe. promises tasty plant-based fare in cool surroundings. The informal eatery – which is much loved stateside – will open in Covent Garden, offering an extensive menu of wholefood delights, including an excellent vegan mac and cheese and the brand’s popular veggie burger, as well dairy-free ice cream.
