The British summer may historically disappear in the blink of an eye, but with any luck we’ll still see some sunny days and balmy temperatures throughout September. Cherish the last of summertime at these five events, most of which take advantage of the season and are held outdoors. Guests staying at The Milestone Hotel in Kensington will be perfectly situated to take advantage of the September 2013 London calendar and gallivant off for the day. Salon Privé
4th-6th September

Billed as the UK’s premier boutique automotive event, the exclusive Salon Privé comprises several displays that are designed to showcase the best in automotive design and overall excellence. As well as the Chubb Insurance Concours D’Elégance Judging Day, the black tie Salon Privé Ball, and the Audemars Piguet Super Car show on Friday, the festival will also highlight rare concept and prototype models that are sure to appeal to automotive devotees. The Salon Privé will be held in the lovely grounds of Syon House in Brentford.

Last Night of the Proms
7th September

The Proms, a multi-month long musical series, will conclude on 7th September with a highlight performance at the Royal Albert Hall. The genre-crossing concert will begin with an experimental new piece by Anna Clyne, before moving on to works by Britten, Handel, and Bernstein, an overture by the Mastersingers of Nuremberg, and numerous other compositions. For an al fresco option, the accompanying Last Night concert at Hyde Park will bring more of a contemporary flavour, with rock legend Bryan Ferry appearing alongside violin virtuoso Nigel Kennedy.

Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials
12th-15th September

Since 1990, riders and spectators have flocked to gorgeous Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire for the International Horse Trials, a leading event in the equestrian calendar. Including dressage, cross country, and show jumping competitions, the Trials take place over the course of four days, and bring together top athletes and horses from around the globe. A range of family-friendly events will also be included in the calendar.

Goodwood Revival
13th-15th September

A commemorative festival honouring the golden age of motor racing, the Goodwood Revival brings a celebratory and retro atmosphere to the world-famous Goodwood Racecourse. Legends of the sport like Sir Stirling Moss and Richard Attwood are slated to attend, and a number of friendly races will take part over the course of the weekend. For the fashion-forward, the Vintage at Goodwood event will celebrate mid-century style through design, art, dance, and music – expect fun, throwback fancy dress.

The Royal County of Berkshire Show
21st-22nd September

Set in scenic Berkshire County, this family-friendly weekend festival celebrates the best that the area has to offer. Highlights of this year’s Royal County of Berkshire Show are set to include the RAF Battle of Britain Flight and the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team, in addition to booths showcasing traditional craft making, gourmet snacks, and horticultural displays. Make sure to stay into the evening, when hot air balloon flights are scheduled to take place.
