Many people will say no, however, after a visit to London Ghost Week, they may think twice about it.

For seven days spirit hunters and fans of the paranormal will descend on the capital to go in search of spirits around some of London's most famous sites.

The Jack the Ripper Ghost Hunt will get proceedings underway, with visitors investigating the areas where he claimed two of his victims – Mary Kelly and Annie Chapman – with expert Daniel MacDonald and TV's Ray Jorden leading the charge.

Other highlights of the event include Murder in the Mitre, which is a séance and psychic night in one of the capital's most haunted pubs.

The Dick Turpin Ghost Hunt is another investigation not to be missed, with visitors taken to the notoriously haunted Spaniards Inn on Hampstead Heath to go in search of the spirit of Dick Turpin.

Many buildings in London are said to be haunted, but one place where ghosts can be escaped is the luxury London hotel the Milestone.
