Event: Join the party at Notting Hill Carnival
Date: August 30th to 31st
1966 is famous in many people's minds as being the year in which England lifted the World Cup for the first, and only, time.
However, something else happened in 1966 which transformed the capital forever.
It was the year that the Notting Hill Carnival was born and, some 43 years later, this massive celebration of food, music and colour has established itself as the largest event of its kind anywhere in Europe.
More than 20 miles of West London is transformed into a sea of vibrant colourful costumes, with 40 static sound systems pumping out various kinds of music from reggae and soul to disco and jazz.
Each year, the streets are dotted with stalls serving up the most mouth-watering Caribbean cuisine to keep the one million or so revellers who travel to the capital full and contented.
The Notting Hill Carnival is a raucous celebration of unity and Caribbean culture that is sure to have visitors dancing long into the night.
However, when the feet can take no more, guests staying at the luxury London hotel the Milestone can head back to their suite and settle down in comfort.
With the Get More From Your Stay package couples can sup chilled Veuve Cliquot, enjoy a three-course table d'hote meal for two, tickets to the London Eye and much much more.
