Families looking for a day out which will educate the kids should head to the Natural History Museum this summer.

The attraction is sure to keep the children quiet for hours on end and this autumn the Darwin Centre will be open to the public.

After a fun day at the museum families can stay at the luxury London hotel the Milestone.

The eight-storey building is the final piece in the centre's development and allows adults and youngsters alike to explore, study and preserve the natural world.

A total of £78 million has been spent on the landmark building and it forms the most significant expansion of the Natural History Museum since the 1880s.

Included in the Darwin Centre will be a variety of displays, including the Inside the Cocoon feature, which allows the public to look at scientists at work, and the Marmont Centre for Biodiversity.

The David Attenborough Studio allows children to learn about new scientific issues and take part in talks and films about the natural world.

While at the luxury London hotel guests can pick the King & I package, which gives two tickets to the performance, a three-course dinner and a glass of Kir Royal on arrival at the hotel.
