Event: Holland Park Opera season
Date: June 2nd until August 7th
For opera fans, there will be no better place to be this summer than in London.
That is because the Holland Park Opera season will be upon us once again, promising top-quality productions of some of the most famous stories ever written.
First of all, there is the rarely-staged masterpiece that is Roberto Devereux, the lyric tragedy from Gaetano Donizetti about the Earl of Essex and Queen Elizabeth's tangle with the Duke and Duchess of Nottingham.
If that is not enough to whet the appetite of theatre lovers, then maybe Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel may be more appealing.
Based on the famous Brothers Grimm fairytale, this classic story focuses on the trials and tribulations between childhood and adulthood, reality and fantasy and good and evil.
Also making up the programme is Puccini's passionate masterpiece La Boheme, Jacques Offenbach's two-act operetta Orpheus of the Underworld, Leos Janacek's Kat'a Kabanova and Giuseppe Verdi's Un ballo in Maschera, a tale of love, politics, power and murder.
With such a wonderful schedule to enjoy, it would be a shame if the whole holiday experience were ruined by sub-standard accommodation.
To make sure this does not happen, visitors should book a stay at the luxury London hotel the Milestone Hotel.
Guests who book the It's Showtime package can look forward to a welcome drink on arrival, a pre-theatre table d'hote dinner for two, tickets to a theatre of choice and a full English breakfast the following day.
