Guests taking advantage of the Magical Night at the Proms offer from luxury London hotel the Milestone may be interested in attending Prom 54: Vaughan Williams Anniversary Prom on August 26th 2008.

Described as a "high point" in this year's tribute to Vaughan Williams, who died 50 years ago on August 26th, this concert will be conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, conductor laureate of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Prom 54 will include the "much-loved" "string-dominated" Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, followed by Job, a ballet and The Serenade to Music, to Shakespeare's prose.

According to the BBC, this was originally envisioned as a work based on Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles and was written for 16 "leading British singers of the day".

It premiered at Henry Wood's at his Jubiliee Concert 70 years ago.
