Event: Last Night of the Proms
Date: September 13th 2008
Proms season is almost upon us and the highlight of the classical series of concerts will once again be the crowd-pleasing Last Night of the Proms on September 13th.
Guests staying at luxury London hotel the Milestone will have only a ten minute walk to the Royal Albert Hall where they can enjoy "the British camaraderie" of the queue.
Once inside, Proms fans can look forward to the likes of Sir Roger Norrington and Bryn Terfel.
In the first half, Beethoven's The Creatures of Prometheus overture will be followed by Wagner, Puccini's renowned Tosca, some lively Verdi and more Beethoven.
After the interval the real fun begins, with Folk Song Medley including The Turtle Dove, Loch Lomond, Cariad cyntaf and Molly Malone.
The zenith of the evening of course is Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance, Vaughan Williams' Sea Songs, complete with audience participation, and the rousing choruses of Rule, Britannia! and Jerusalem.
While you will have to camp out for tickets to this pinnacle finale event, those who prefer a comfy bed and a guarantee of entry to the Proms might want to consider the special Night at the Proms package currently being offered at luxury London hotel the Milestone.
As part of the special Night at the Proms package, which is available for all Proms concerts excluding last night and Proms in the Park, music lovers will be welcomed into the hotel with a drink, offered a complimentary copy of the Proms 2008 guide and then enjoy a three course pre-Proms dinner in Cheneston's Restaurant.
