Boucher and Chardin: Masters of Modern Manners

Event: Boucher and Chardin: Masters of Modern Manners
Date: June 12th until September 7th 2008

Today (April 21st 2008), the Queen's Birthday Gun Salutes take place in London's Hyde Park and the occasion will be repeated in the month of June on Coronation Day and again for the state opening of parliament and on the occasion of royal births or visits from a foreign head of state.

Such acts are part of the pomp and circumstance of Britain, something which is to be celebrated in Boucher and Chardin: Masters of Modern Manners at the Wallace Collection in Westminster this June.

Between June 12th and September 7th 2008, "the elegant face of tea drinking in 18th century France and Britain is celebrated", according to LondonTown, with examples of Boucher and Chardin paintings and "artistic response" to tea drinking in 18th-century France and Britain.

Free to attend, this exhibition may well appeal to tea-drinkers staying at luxury London hotel the Milestone during June.

Taking up centre stage will be Boucher's famous 1743 work A Lady on Her Day Bed alongside Chardin's Lady Taking Tea of 1735.

Other future exhibitions for the Wallace Collection that might be of interest to guests residing at luxury London hotel the Milestone include Cartoons and Coronets: The Genius of Osbert Lancaster, an event marking the centenary of the birth of one of Britain's much-loved architectural satirist and cartoonists.
