The Revenger's Tragedy

Event: The Revenger's Tragedy
Date: May 27th until August 7th 2008

The Revenger's Tragedy, playing from May 27th until August 7th, is a theatre break that is more suited to grown ups than those on family breaks in London.

And if blood and violence are not things that easily perturb you, then this could be the perfect evening out for guests staying at luxury London hotel the Milestone.

As the title suggests, The Revenger's Tragedy is a revenge play, first performed in 1606. The vivid and often violent portrayal of lust and ambition made it a controversial piece of theatre in some spheres and fell out of favour with directors and playgoers for a period.

The story is told of a young man driven to avenge another's death; however the avenger's revenge brings up moral questions and results in a bloodbath.

Starring Rory Kinnear as Vindice, Thomas Middleton's dark play is "set in an avaricious world that seethes with vice and retribution", according to the National Theatre.

Playing at the Olivier Theatre from May 27th 2008.
