Assistant Maintenance Manager

As an Assistant Maintenance Manager you will be required to work closely with the Maintenance Manager and Chief Engineer in maintaining both hotels’ to the highest standards within budget limits. You will ensure that all work in both hotels is carried out by the maintenance team and that this is in compliance with the Health and Safety regulations, carry out risk assessments for all operations, repair all damages and maintain all types of equipment. Extensive knowledge of health and safety and fire regulations are therefore vital to this role and you would be expected to be called out in an emergency.
As the Assistant Maintenance Manager your duties will include:
• To manage, monitor, plan and supervise members of the maintenance team along with any specialist outside contractors.
• Together with the Maintenance Manager, to monitor expenditure against budgets and keep service records and inventories of all work carried out.
• To act as the first point of contact for internal customers, contractors and suppliers relevant to the Maintenance Department.
• To maintain and review Health and Safety arrangements to include safe systems of work, work permits signing in and out of contractors, COSHH, risk assessment, manual handling and any other Health and Safety matters.
• Alongside the Maintenance Manager, to organise and plan maintenance activities in-house and contractors so as to cause minimum disruption to hotel guests and staff alike.
• To plan and coordinate shift rotas and holidays, plus staffing levels to meet business needs.
• To manage and review gas, electrical, water mechanical, heating/air conditioning and ventilation, lifts, fire fighting equipment and catering equipment services to ensure satisfactory working environment including fire alarm/emergency lights.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in assigning tasks, delegating responsibilities and supervising a team.
