In the heart of fashionable Kensington
The Milestone is London’s most highly regarded luxury boutique hotel, repeatedly topping the rankings at respected review sites and scooping the most coveted awards at hospitality industry events - for which we are very proud.
In addition to the attractions outlined below, see our latest Concierge Newsletter for the latest events in and around The Milestone Hotel.
Splendid views over Kensington Gardens
Whilst these accolades mainly reflect the luxurious experience and unsurpassed quality of service, the location could hardly be bettered. The city’s most popular attractions are within easy reach yet the wonderful green expanse of Kensington Gardens is directly outside the front door, with Hyde Park, The Serpentine boating lake and the Diana Princess of Wales’ Memorial Playground just beyond. Perfect for letting the kids run wild while you relax with a picnic or a good book.
Music and museums
Just a five minute walk from The Milestone Hotel, the Royal Albert Hall is the world’s most famous stage. Its breath-taking auditorium hosts over 370 shows a year by the world’s greatest artists in the main auditorium and around 200 per year in the Elgar Room, welcoming over 1.7 million people through its doors each year. Opened in 1871 as part of Prince Albert’s vision for a centre for the Arts and Sciences, the Hall is a registered charity which operates without public funding.
It also offers tours of the building and an extensive education and outreach programme. To find out more about the Hall’s calendar of events, amazing history of performance and charitable purpose, please visit www.royalalberthall.com
Two Royal Palaces nearby
Lovers of Royalty adore The Milestone – with Kensington Palace, (the former residence of Queen Victoria and more recently Diana, Princess of Wales) directly opposite the hotel’s front door. It is now the London residence of Prince William and Catherine, so you’ll have Royal neighbours. William’s grandmother, the Queen, also has a home nearby - Buckingham Palace is just a couple of minutes away in a taxi.
London's best shopping
The Milestone's location is paradise for shoppers - with Knightsbridge, Harrods and Harvey Nichols only a short walk away. The hotel is on Kensington High Street, one of London’s most popular shopping destinations, while a short distance to the south you’ll find the long rows of glittering shops along Brompton Road, Sloane Street, and the King's Road.
To the north-west lies the Westfield shopping centre with over 265 retailers from luxury designers to high street labels. Kensington Church Street offers the widest selection of art and antiques in London, with over 60 dealers, while slightly further afield you can search for bargains along the Portobello Road in Notting Hill.
To make your shopping expeditions even more rewarding we’ve teamed up with Hiscox Mavroleon, exclusive personal shoppers - after a full English breakfast head off in a Bentley or Range Rover with a private chauffeur to visit London's top fashion destinations and boutiques of the moment for a true ‘fashion insider’ experience.
No shortage of nightlife
London’s legendary West End is easy to reach by tube (Kensington High Street station is 200 yards from the hotel) or cab - you are only minutes from vibrant theatreland - Piccadilly Circus, Shaftesbury Avenue, Leicester Square and the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Dive into the warren of narrow streets that criss-cross Soho and you’ll find endless old pubs, lively bars and countless restaurants.
Close to the capital’s biggest attractions
A few minutes in a cab and you’re in the heart of Whitehall, with Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Cabinet War Rooms Museum and the London Eye. From here you can board a boat and cruise down the river past the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the financial centre of Canary Wharf and on to the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich. From Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery are an easy walk away. Head in the opposite direction and you are soon at Tate Britain.
