Category: Family Fun Dates: Saturday, 07 December 2013 to Sunday, 08 December 2013 Although Santa Claus is most commonly known for his association with his sleigh-drawing reindeer, the London Wetlands Centre has gone against the grain this year with a special experience that will introduce families to his other pets - namely huskies. Located as he is in the North Pole, good old Saint Nick has plenty of contact with these loyal creatures, which are capable of running great distances over ice and snow before needing a rest. Dog lovers will particularly enjoy being able to get up close and personal with the huskies, with the opportunity to get a family photo around these cuddly animals. But there is also the chance for young children to witness their power and strength, as they can climb aboard the husky sleigh ride that takes them through an enchanted winter wonderland to meet Santa himself. The cosy log cabin where Father Christmas has made his home this year is situated in a picturesque forest of pine trees. Entry costs £5 per child and visitors can deliver their letter to Santa personally and receive a free goody bag. But the fun doesn't stop here, with a real life polar explorer situated on site to talk about his adventures in some of the bleakest, uninhabitable conditions known to man. While the kids are enjoying the festive activities, adults are welcome to sneak over to the Cranberry Fest and enjoy some tasty treats of their own, and even learn how to make Christmas decorations out of this simple foodstuff. Get the fun started at The Milestone Hotel, where you can be sure the kids will get the attention they deserve during the festive season with the We Are Family package. If, like Santa, you fancy bringing your own pooch along to London, the Pampered Pet package will ensure they also receive a grooming session and a gift basket of toys and treats.
